Dream Weaver

Dreams have always had an important part in the story-telling circles of Native Americans. We look for the symbols that bring understanding to our subconscious lives, and find that they manifest into our consciousness. My mother, a Cherokee shaman who loved sharing the myths & lore as well as the herbal cures for our health, often expressed her belief in dream interpretation. She would say, ‘If you dream the same dream 3 times, you know it is truth.’ And she always encouraged us to keep a journal of our dreams, so that we could follow the ‘big picture’ when we saw patterns appearing in them.
Later in life, I grew increasingly interested in Metaphysics, and became immersed in a class about Dream Interpretation. As assignment with the class, we went ‘live’ on a radio broadcast and interpreted dreams for people who would call in looking for answers. Talk about thinking on your feet! I found I enjoyed it & became adept at seeing through the ‘veil’ of dreamstate.
As part of my Doctorate, my thesis was a comparative study of Freud vs Jung in Dreamwork. This research took me back through the eons of time studying the cause and effect of dreams and the way they have impacted lives; wars, religious crusades, romances, births and deaths. As an example, the early Roman church included a ‘dream room’, where a priest would bless an individual and ask for God to bestow a special dream on him during the night. He would sleep in this unique chamber, awaiting a dream messenger to bring him his truth.
In this fast-paced world we live in, I think it grows even more important for us to ‘listen’ to our dreams.. Sometimes our subconscious must resort to nightmares, simply to get our attention. And the ensuing message is nearly always not a scary one, but there was no other way to help us ‘get’ it. Just as the symbols that we see in our dreams are not always the ‘what you see is what you get’ category. For instance death in a dream is usually all about ‘sudden change’ & nothing more.
I look forward to helping you unlock the mysteries of your dreams. Please feel free to write to me in care of this website. Your identity will always remain anonymous, of course. In closing I will share a dream I had last night..
In the dream, I am trying to make my way upstairs to my children, who are crying for me. The stairs seem endless & I feel as though I’m not making any progress. The cries get louder & more frantic, as I try harder & faster to make my way up that endless staircase. I awaken frustrated, my heart pounding.
The interpretation:
A house in a dream is always your ‘State of Mind’. Metaphysically we have 7 levels of consciousness, and our highest state is the SuperConscious (what some call our Christ/Buddha Consciousness). In the dream, I was frantically trying to make my way to this highest state of mind. The babies upstairs represent ‘budding or growing ideas’. They were crying to be heard, to be expressed, to be nurtured in my life. And while I was trying so hard to reach them, to support and sustain them.. I couldn’t get there under my own power.
This dream is telling me that I may need to ask the Great Spirit for help in getting to that highest version of myself. I ask for help in keeping those ideas alive and well, as I increase in knowledge each day. In knowing that the ‘babies’ are cared for, I relax into the assurance that I will make it up the staircase that leads to their manifestation.
Dream on!
